This is blog holds a collection of images and movies that help to illustrate my first traveling experience. From January-June of 2010 I was a foreign exchange student of The Chinese University of Hong Kong. At this institution I studied Architecture and the Mandarin language. I also traveled to areas throughout Hong Kong and mainland China. Please enjoy and post comments and/or discussions if you wish.
The two dishes are traditional Chinese desserts that are only eaten during the Chinese New Year. They are ginger and turnip cakes, and are made of shredded ginger or radish with rice flour. The cakes are eaten after being cut into squares and fried. They are really sweet and extremely sticky. It's kind of hard to eat some of them with chop sticks, lol.
As for New Year souvenirs! I tired to find some, but most were very cheaply made and over priced. I was just thinking the other day that my ceramic soup bowl and tea cup are great souvenirs. They are very well made and have fun memories attacted to them because I use them everyday.
